SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES

The topic of special education is different from that of early intervention and it starts at age 3. Early intervention focuses on child’s overall development, and a special education focuses on providing child with an education, meanless of disabilities or special needs. The document that spells out child’s needs is the Individualized Education Program (IEP), which includes:

  • current skill level of the child,
  • annual goal of the child,
  • progres tracking of the child,
  • special education services for the child,
  • duration of services for the child,
  • participation in mainstream classrooms for the child,
  • testing adaptations for the child,
  • statement of transition for the child.
